SAKAI TAKAYUKI 33-Layer Damascus VG10 KENGATA GYUTO 190mm
Product Overview
The Sakai Takayuki 33-Layer Damascus VG10 Kengata Gyuto 190mm is a refined fusion of traditional Japanese blade aesthetics and modern Western versatility.
The Kengata (kiritsuke-style) tip offers enhanced precision for detailed work, while the gyuto-style blade profile ensures excellent performance across meat, fish, and vegetables.
At its core, the blade features VG-10 stainless steel, prized for its outstanding sharpness, long-lasting edge retention, and high corrosion resistance. Surrounding the core are 33 layers of stainless Damascus steel, providing strength, ease of sharpening, and a visually striking wood-grain pattern.
The blade is finished with a traditional Tsuchime (hammered) texture, enhancing forging density, improving food release, and giving the knife a bold, handcrafted appearance.

What Is Damascus Steel?
Damascus steel originates from ancient crucible steel, also known as Wootz steel, developed in India and valued for its strength and distinctive patterns.
Modern Japanese Damascus blades are produced by layering stainless steels around a high-performance core, achieving superior sharpness, long edge life, ease of sharpening, and elegant wood-grain patterns.
